Resetting your password (WordPress)

You can reset your username in two places in WordPress.

If you don’t know what you password is and you are not logged in:

  1. Go to the login page for your website

  2. Use the “lost password” link under the login box

  3. This will email you a reset password link to the email associated with that user.

  4. Follow the prompts in this email to set a new password

If are logged in and you want to update your existing password (or the password of one of you website users):

  1. Login to WordPress

  2. Find “users” in the left hand menu

  3. Select the user whose password you want to update and click on their name (or the “edit” link that appears when you hover over them)

  4. This will load their user profile information

  5. Scroll down the page to the “Account Management” section

  6. Click the “Generate password” button

  7. Either accept the password that WordPress generates for you or enter a password into the field

  8. Make sure you use a strong password

  9. Once you have entered the password, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “update user”

  10. Save your new password for safekeeping (we recommend a password manager like 1Password)
