Waka Abel Tasman

Waka Abel Tasman was the first New Zealand waka business to be externally audited under the
Adventure Act regulations and is a certified adventure company.

It recently won a "Top Website" award from Tourism New Zealand.

The Brief

Waka Abel Tasman is a new venture for Todd and Lee-Anne Jago. They came to us wanting a website up relatively quickly to take advantage of the summer season.

In the long term they want a full website, however, in the meantime it made sense to build a one page website to get them up and running. They had a logo from SeeReed Communication which gave us the colours and a place to start.

Lee-Anne got professional photographer to take photographs of their waka trips and Niki Morrell helped with the copywriting to get their story into the right words.

Using the Brand Guidelines

Work done by the graphic designer, Jane at SeeReed Visual Communication, gave us a starting point with logo and colours and branding guidelines.

The most important was to get the three trips in a way that stood out from the rest of the site.

Professional photography makes a big difference

Lee-Anne really wanted photographs that portray the unique gold and turquoise colours of Kaiteriteri and reflect the colours in the logo.

A professional photographer captured the essence of Kaiteriteri and gave us great images so we could take advantage and use parallax for some of the background images.

One page website for Waka Abel Tasman
Using Beaver Builder plugin

Our client updates her won website easily

Lee-Anne is over the moon, she can change things around on her website easily without our help. Waka Abel Tasman is a seasonal business so building the site with Beaver Builder, a WordPress page building plugin, means that she has a lot of flexibility.

She can now "turn off" the 3 trip row she needs over the summer holidays which includes a trip that is only run then, and switch on a 2 row for the off season months.

Showcasing on Social Media

Instagram for WordPress Websites

This is business is one that Social Media plays a big part for referals. Lee-Anne has been diligent in getting the business on Facebook, Instagram, NZ Tourism and Trip Advisor, as well as in other online business listings.

We pulled the Instagram feed into the website to give visitors an idea of how popular this trip is and how suitable it is for all ages.

We also included Trip Advisor reviews to show what others think of this great adventure into the Abel Tasman National Park.
